Global Marine Systems contracted Denholm Offshore to install a direct landing at Portrush, Northern Ireland for project Kelvin, which we completed in June / July 2009.
The brief was not an easy one. We had to clear a 650m offshore duct before laying the cable, then attach steel wire to the cable end before hauling the cable from offshore to the beach terminal.
To assist with this tricky task, and to make sure there were as few divers in the environment as possible, we utilised our own Video Ray ROV.
The work was finished to the complete satisfaction of our clients, and we feel this project has demonstrated our ability to perform complex cabling tasks with a health and safety ethos of primary importance, and without needing to outsource equipment.
